Annette Pickering
President
Annette offers a solid background in the field of real estate management. Her experience covers the management of over 45,000 apartment units, commercial office space and HOA management during her forty plus year career. Prior to establishing her own firm, she has held management positions with several large real estate management firms, to include Drucker & Falk, VMS Corporation, First Property Management and Steven D. Bell & Company. She also possesses a North Carolina, South Carolina real estate broker’s license in addition to being a member of the National Apartment Association and the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).
Ken Baucom
Vice President
Ken began his career in real estate in 1982 in Chapel Hill, NC converting single family homes into student housing. Baucom Properties developed, renovated, leased and managed over 47 different housing communities. This Company was sold in 1991 and inspired the beginning of Pickering & Company, Inc. Having owned, developed and managed both multi-family, student housing and commercial properties, he contributes the “owner’s” perspective to our real estate management firm. Ken’s experience in the field of development also lends the expertise of contract and maintenance management. Ken holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill as well as a North and South Carolina real estate broker’s license.
Julie Smith
Executive Vice President & Human Resources Manager
Julie joined the Pickering & Company team in 2002. She has worked for more than thirty years as an executive assistant and office manager. Julie brings a wealth of experience in benefits administration, payroll, human resource management, office management and customer service. Julie is involved with Property Acquisitions and New Property Construction, including due diligence reporting and market analysis reporting. Julie has expanded her responsibilities to include asset management duties, compiling financial reports to review with clients. Julie is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Greensboro Regional Realtors Association (GRRA), National Apartment Association (NAA) and holds a North and South Carolina real estate broker’s license.
Tami Burton
Chief of Operations
Tami joined the Pickering & Company team in 2001.
As the Chief of Operations and Broker in Charge, she oversees the daily operations of the communities and properties, its employees and the overall performance of the Company. Tami’s background is extensive in the Property Management Industry and Real Estate Brokerage to include New Property Acquisitions and New Property Construction, Due Diligence reporting and market analysis reporting. She has obtained a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) designation, is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Greensboro Regional Realtors Association (GRRA), National Apartment Association (NAA) and holds a North and South Carolina real estate broker’s license. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and going to the beach.
Christina Wyatt
Staff Accountant
Christina joined the Pickering & Company team in 2001. Her main responsibilities include overseeing the financial reporting for the properties, end of year reporting, 1099’s, and working with vendors for accounts payable. Christina grew up in Greensboro where she attended Grimsley High before going to UNCG where she majored in Business Administration. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, going to hear live music, and spending time with her family.
Glenn Henzel
Director of Maintenance Operations
Glenn joined the Pickering and
Company team in 2001. Glenn has approximately 28 years of Apartment Maintenance experience and currently holds his Universal CFC Certification and National Pool and Spa Certification. Glenn has a vast knowledge of Electrical, Heat & A/C Repair, Plumbing, and Carpentry as well as superior team leadership and management skills. He is responsible for overseeing all Maintenance employees within the Pickering and Company portfolio. During his tenure with Pickering & Company he has been involved in all New Construction and Renovation projects.
